Hi, I'm Ed
Junior Software Developer
About Me
I love cats!
I studied Psychology at University, and maintain an interest in it to this day.
My journey into Software Development began in late 2023, with me using W3Schools' tutorial to teach myself HTML.
In January, I started Northcoders' Software Development Bootcamp - an intensive 13-week course teaching Full Stack Development.
Since graduating, I have been applying for my first software development role, whilst using online resources to build on my learning, and working on projects to practice and develop my skills.

Music
I love to discover new songs, artists, or genres.
An especially good source for obscure music has been the app MusicBoard, which I'm also using to keep track of what I've listened to.
You can view a list of every album I've ever listened to on my profile. In 2023, I listened to 600 new albums!
Books
Shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic, I rediscovered a love of reading.
I prefer non-fiction, usually gravitating to books that cover psychology, philosphy, sociology, and politics.
My favourite book is War and Peace. As well as being a well-written story, I loved that Tolstoy takes sizeable detours from the narrative to speak directly to the reader, usually to correct the inaccuracies of historians - in the case of one battle, based on his first-hand experience of what happened.
Films
It's fair to say I'm a bit of a film nerd.
I frequently visit the cinema to see new releases.
At home, I like to chronologically make my way through a director's filmography - both to see how their craft developed over time, as well as checking out some films that I would otherwise not bother watching.
The director I'm currently on is Akira Kurosawa (most known for Seven Samurai). His film Ikiru is my favourite thus far.
You can check out what I've been watching on my Letterboxd account.
Miscellaneous
I enjoy trying different foods. If I can, I like to cook at least one new recipe each week - usually found in a cookbook or on YouTube.
After getting a good deal on my sister's old skateboard, I've been getting to grips with riding it. No tricks yet!
I do play the occasional video game. My favourite series are The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption, and Jak and Daxter.
I plan to start learning the drums very soon!
